All around the world and in our country, women are not represented equally in several parts of society as well as written and visual media.

Deriving from this basic contradiction, KAZETE-Independent Women newspaper begin the new publication period on September 1997 with the initiative of the Grantee and General Editor Berrin Gürçay Dilekçi. Since then, KAZETE aims to become the voice and spokesman of the women suffered from the man-dominated structure, in solidarity with women organizations and the women sensitive to women issue.

In the first few years, KAZETE, with the tabloid size, was published bimonthly and afterwards it was transformed into monthly publication. Up to now, KAZETE is being regularly distributed to the readers both inside and outside of the country with the subscription method without a break.

KAZETE, embracing the developing women movement in Turkey within a framework of human rights, purposes to generate a platform in which women can contact each other and other civil society organizations that they affiliate; have possibility to express their opinions freely; and generate public opinion and agenda in political terms.

With this purpose, KAZETE, never conceding the democratic and contemporary women image in publication policies and approaching all women equally without any discrimination based on race, age, language, ethnic identity, religion or disabilities; endeavors to construct women conscious based on human rights, encourage them to organize and participate in the struggle for equality within a framework of solidarity for 12 years.

KAZETE, including news of politics, economics, society, health, organization, world, law, education, culture-arts, particular interviews and conversations , comments and articles about daily events; enhanced the author staff with the honorable people who have reasonable reputation both in Turkey and abroad for their studies about women rights.
